The primary goals of the Department of Public
Safety are:
- The protection of
all tribal citizens, authorized visitors, property, infrastructure and
resources upon tribal lands from any and all threats from any quarter
or source
- The prevention of
preventable accidents, injuries, illnesses and crime through education
and public awareness
- Ensure that
anticipatory tactical and strategic planning and action is the norm in
lieu of purely responsive action
- Strive for 100%
cross-training of all personnel within their respective divisions as
well as the department as a whole

Emergency Services
Dispatching and Communications duties are the responsibility of the
Office of
Emergency Management's Communications Division. The Office of
Emergency Management is also responsible for negotiating and presenting
mutual aid agreements to the Tribal Council for approval through the
O.E.M.'s Inter-agency Liaison Officer.
